MY PHOTOGRAPHY JOURNEY

Born in Urbana and raised in Champaign and Savoy, I have been surrounded by college sports at the University of Illinois. Growing up, I tried out a multitude of sports, ranging from soccer, to baseball, even to hockey, but from my time in elementary school through high school, I truly fell in love with the game of basketball. I may not be the best at it myself, but playing for long enough has allowed me to see the movement and understand that motion is art, and that is what I see in all my photos I take. I vividly remember being hurt my first cross country meet of my 8th grade year, and the yearbook teacher simply asked if I could take photos, even though I had never even picked up a camera. In Spring of 2023, I began to take photography more seriously. While doing photos of Track & Field for my high school, I saw that people began to love the photos that I was capturing, and from there the rest is history. I have been working with the News Gazette, based in Champaign, to help cover IHSA Playoff football, high school basketball, and University of Illinois Men's Basketball, and have now branched out into photos at DIY house shows. I most recently served as a staff photographer at The Maneater, the University of Missouri's student run paper, where I photographed different University of Missouri sports and events, including Mizzou men's basketball at the SEC Tournament in Nashville, TN. I am currently enrolled at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign after transferring in the fall of 2025 and I am continuing my journalism education.
